Saturday Academy Signature Workshops
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA)
Open to boys and girls ages 11-17, YEA! uses the
fundamentals of entrepreneurship to promote creativity
and skills in money management, business concepts
and financial literacy. It encourages students to
consider their current interests and future professional
options. Using tactical problem-solving approaches, the
program enhances confidence, creativity, self-esteem and
self-reliance.
FemNeuroscience
This series gives girls the freedom to explore the
exciting world of brain science in a girl-friendly
environment. Taught by Jennifer Payne- Parrish, PhD.,
a leading neuroscientist and founder of the Academic
Resource Center, the program will feature hands-on
activities that give girls ages 11-17 insight on the
'brain's terrain' and new discoveries in brain science.
The program will also highlight career options for women
in the sciences.
Classroom Dynamics
In this series, students are trained on how to ask
critical questions to get the answers they need to
understand the classroom material — without being
intimidated. They build classroom confidence and learn
how to develop stronger student-student partnerships and
effective study groups that promote learning.
Academic Coaching
Some students seem stuck in the middle &endash; doing
OK, but never excelling. We work with students to identify
their academic "Achilles' Heel", whether it's study
skills, organizational skills or other strategies needed
to liberate their "inner achiever."
