Teaching the Science of Learning
Come to ARC on any day and you will find students bragging about the grade they received on a recent test or quiz. You will find tutors collaborating on how to best explain a complicated math concept so that students will grasp the idea with ease or parents and staff meeting to determine exactly what their child needs to achieve academically.
ARC is a place where students find the support they need to enhance their academic ability. Students along with tutors and staff encourage their fellow students to excel and provide the framework to improve and enhance their academic skills.
We believe in the ability of each student who walks through our doors. As experts in our fields (our staff consists of scientist, engineers, MBA's and teacher's), we understand the desire all students have to reach their highest potential. We have been in the classroom and experienced the thrill when information taught is real and can be applied. We know what it is like to use education to propel us into careers that make a difference and demonstrate our talent. It is our goal to pass that experience on to every student that walks through the doors of ARC.
By offering specialized and individualized one-on-one tutoring with a trained and experienced tutor, ARC has made a difference in the academic lives of our students. Our approach includes partnering with teachers and parents in addition to providing exceptional service.
I have often been asked, why would I as a career scientist open a learning center, my answer is always the same "because I know the value of education and it is my duty to ensure that those behind me can walk through the same doors I have".
Every year ARC seeks to expand its services according to the needs of
the young and gifted minds we serve. This year, ARC is offering careers
and educational seminars designed to introduce students to the myriad
of occupations and opportunities available to them. Please consider
registering your child for one or more of these informative workshops
designed to enhance their future success.
Saturday's at the Bar
Thinking about the field of law? There are many varieties from
entertainment to judgeship. Facilitated by Joan Hogarth, Esq. this
series of workshops is, as Paris Hilton would say, "hot." Invited
speakers include: Monifa Bailey, Esq, Chavella Brown-Maynor, Esq. and a
few others. It's a course that even Johnny Cochran would not miss.
The Election Selection
The recent election proved how important the youth vote was and will
be in our democracy. This Barak Obama inspired workshop will inform
students of the power of their voice, their vote and how elections
determine their future.
YEA -The Young Entrepreneurs Academy
Our students loved this class last year. Facilitated by William
Parrish, an entrepreneur featured in the July 2007 issue of Black
Enterprise magazine, YEA uses the fundamentals of entrepreneurship to
promote creativity and skills in money management, business concepts
and financial literacy. William has built the successful construction
management firm Noblestrategy Inc. Entrepreneurs from a variety of
fields will participate in this series of workshops.
